WRITER. CREATOR. ARTIST.

 
 

Cairo is a writer, producer and social entrepreneur with a focus on marginalised womxn and Black Communities. She is an award-winning playwright and poet, an alumnus of the prestigious Apples and Snakes Writing Room and is currently part of The Soho Theatre's Writer's Lab for new playwrights.

She has worked as a young associate writer for Beyond Face Theatre, as a contributing artist for The Westbank Gallery London and as the Assistant Producer of the ‘Hear Me Now’ book launch at RADA in collaboration with Oberon Books and Tamasha Theatre.


She is passionate about Women’s issues; Cairo founded Black Girls Brunch UK, a community interest company that curates safe spaces and events for Black Women in the UK to ‘Redefine the Room' and have a seat at their own table.

Cairo works with established and emerging creatives on a range of projects.

  • Monologue Commission for the play, ‘Alright Petal’ in partnership with The Theatre Royal Plymouth and Beyond Face Theatre Company.

  • ‘Who’s looking back at you’, an R&D performance written for Beyond Face Theatre Company. Performed at Plymouth Fringe Festival (2018) and touring the South-West in the Summer of 2019. Winner of ‘The Toast of the Fringe’ Award

  • ‘Memory Bags’, an Art installation at The Westbank Gallery London, consisting of an installation, podcast and poetry book. (2017)
