Barnet council

Cairo was invited by Barnet Council to perform in their atrium as part of their Windrush Celebration.

 

wATERSTONES x LOC

Sunshine and Raindrops was chosen by Love of Culture Book and Social Club as their September Read. She was invited to a reading and Q&A session at Waterstones Tottenham Court Road.

 

Beyond Face

Cairo wrote, ‘Who’s Looking Back At You’, an R&D performance written for Beyond Face Theatre Company. It is the recipient of ‘The Toast of Fringe’ Award.

 

THE London Westbank Gallery

Cairo created work for The London Westbank Gallery. Her work was featured in an art installation entitled, Memory Bags.

 

SOUNDS MUSICAL THEATRE COMPANY

Cairo starred as Deloris Van Cartier in SMTC’s version of SISTER ACT. The performance ran for 6 shows and garnered positive reviews from local press. It was also the winner of a NODA Achievement award and ranked first in the South -West for singing and musicality.

 

Port Eliot Festival

Cairo was a featured ‘pop up’ poet at Port Eliot Literary Festival. She performed on the Ace of Spades Stage.

The voice newspaper

The Voice highlighted 10 unsung phenomenal Black British Authors, Cairo with her debut poetry collection, 'Sunshine and Raindrops' was featured on the list.

The University Of Plymouth

Cairo was a guest panelist for, ‘Practicing Cultural Politics: An Artists Response’ at The University of Plymouth.

The University of East Anglia

Cairo was a panellist and invited guest for, ‘An Evening of Literature’ at the University of East Anglia.

St John’s Primary School

Cairo held a creative writing workshop that taught a group of year six children about

the affects of plastic pollution and dirty water both at home and internationally.

The workshop generated thought provoking pieces of poetry and allowed the children to explore various ways of

creating work, outside of the national curriculum.
